Beliefs – One Point Church

core beliefs

1. The Scriptures Inspired

The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.

2. The One True God

The one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent “I AM,” the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind. He has further revealed Himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

3. The Deity Of The Lord Jesus Christ

The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. The Scriptures declare:

His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His substitutionary work on the cross, His bodily resurrection from the dead, His exaltation to the right hand of God.

4. The Fall Of Man

Man was created good and upright; for God said, “Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness.” However, man by voluntary transgression fell and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God.

The Salvation of Man

Salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, by faith, through grace. It involves repentance and faith in Jesus. (Ephesians 2:8; John 3:16)

The Ordinances of the Church

The Church recognizes two ordinances:

Water Baptism by Immersion (Matthew 28:19)

Holy Communion (1 Corinthians 11:26)

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit

The baptism in the Holy Spirit is given to believers for empowering service and is distinct from and subsequent to salvation. (Acts 1:8; Acts 2:4)

The Initial Physical Evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit

The initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues as the Spirit gives utterance. (Acts 2:4)

Sanctification

Sanctification is both an instantaneous and progressive work of grace that leads believers to holiness. (Romans 12:1-2; Hebrews 12:14)

Divine Healing

The Church is the body of Christ, called to evangelize the world, worship God, and equip believers for service. (Ephesians 1:22-23; Matthew 28:19-20)

The Ministry

God has called and ordained the five-fold ministry (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers) to lead and equip the Church. (Ephesians 4:11-16)

The Church and Its Mission

God has called and ordained the five-fold ministry (apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers) to lead and equip the Church. (Ephesians 4:11-16)

The Blessed Hope

The resurrection of believers who have died and the rapture of those who are alive to meet Christ in the air is the imminent and blessed hope. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Titus 2:13)

The Millennial Reign of Christ

Christ will return with His saints to reign on earth for a thousand years, establishing peace and righteousness. (Revelation 20:1-6)

The Final Judgment

There will be a final judgment for unbelievers, leading to eternal punishment in the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:11-15)

The New Heavens and the New Earth

God will create a new heaven and a new earth where righteousness dwells forever. (2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1)
